Accountability

ac-count-a-ble (adj): Required or expected to justify actions or decisions; responsible

Accountable now? To who?

At any one time we are accountable to any number of entities. ¬†Individuals– significant others, children, family, friends, coworkers… and Organizations– schools, jobs, religious institutions.

But, we are also always accountable to ourselves.

I find that I’m not particularly good at being accountable to myself. I’m quite excellent, I must say, at doing it for others. But, when it comes to making myself a priority and holding myself responsible for choices related to my well being, it just isn’t the same.

From now on, I need to hold myself accountable to the standard of life I want for myself. Only I can do that for myself.
