Accountability

13 Jul

ac-count-a-ble (adj): Required or expected to justify actions or decisions; responsible

Accountable now? To who?

At any one time we are accountable to any number of entities.  Individuals– significant others, children, family, friends, coworkers… and Organizations– schools, jobs, religious institutions.

But, we are also always accountable to ourselves.

I find that I’m not particularly good at being accountable to myself. I’m quite excellent, I must say, at doing it for others. But, when it comes to making myself a priority and holding myself responsible for choices related to my well being, it just isn’t the same.

From now on, I need to hold myself accountable to the standard of life I want for myself. Only I can do that for myself.

Starting Now.

Tonight I really didn’t want to work out. The day was basically already a wash.

But, I did it anyway. Only 20 minutes, but I’m proud of myself for getting of the couch and going. One small step but in the right direction!
